Bacon Mac ‘n’ Cheese Burger Wrap
Ingredients:
For the Mac ‘n’ Cheese:
- 1 cup elbow macaroni
- 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 1 cup milk
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
- 1/2 teaspoon mustard powder (optional)
For the Burger:
- 1 lb ground beef (or turkey)
- Salt and pepper
- 4 slices of bacon
- Burger buns (optional for serving)
For the Wrap:
- 4 large flour tortillas
- Lettuce (optional)
- Sliced tomatoes (optional)
Instructions:
- Prepare the Mac ‘n’ Cheese:
- Cook the elbow macaroni according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
- In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Whisk in the flour and cook for about 1 minute to form a roux.
- Gradually add milk, whisking constantly until the mixture thickens.
- Stir in the shredded cheese, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and mustard powder until melted and smooth.
- Mix in the cooked pasta until well combined. Set aside.
- Cook the Bacon:
- In a skillet, cook the bacon over medium heat until crispy. Remove from the skillet and drain on paper towels. Reserve some bacon fat for the burgers.
- Prepare the Burgers:
- In the same skillet with bacon fat, form the ground beef into burger patties. Season with salt and pepper.
- Cook the patties to your desired doneness, making sure to flip them halfway through (about 3-4 minutes on each side for medium).
- In the last minute of cooking, place a slice of bacon on each patty and cover with a lid to help melt the cheese if you prefer.
- Assemble the Wrap:
- Lay a tortilla flat, and place a generous scoop of mac ‘n’ cheese in the center of the wrap.
- Top with a burger patty (and any optional toppings like lettuce and tomato).
- Fold in the sides of the tortilla and roll it up tightly.
- Serve:
- Slice the wraps in half and serve warm, optionally with extra bacon on the side or your favorite dipping sauce.
